Rajasthan Government Removes Supplementary History Books for Classes 9–12, Debate on Regional History Distortion

Rajasthan — The Rajasthan government has removed four supplementary history books for Classes 9 to 12 from the state curriculum.

This decision comes amid earlier criticism that NCERT textbooks provided almost no dedicated coverage of Rajasthan’s history, raising concerns among students and observers.

The removed books previously included regional history, culture, and key contributions of Rajasthan, which were taught alongside the main syllabus.

With their removal, questions are now being raised about whether Rajasthan’s historical presence in school education is gradually being reduced.

Officials have stated that the move is part of a review process. However, the decision has sparked a wider debate over the representation of regional history in textbooks.
